Snappy Little Tune

In August of 1996, just 6 months after saddling my first horse, I was lucky enough to meet a very special filly named Snappy Little Tune.

I purchased her privately at Ellis Park for $17,500. She went on to win 13 races for us, including 3 stake races, and earned $382,138. She won at distances from 5 & 1/2 furlongs to 1 & 1/16 miles and posted several 100+ Beyers' Speed Figures. She provided us with some big thrills and helped, along with Isaacsmyman, to generate some early interest in our racing stable.

Snappy Little Tune and filly by Tactical Cat

Snappy Little Tune was retired from racing in February of 2000, and was bred to Tactical Cat, resulting in a 2001 filly "Snappy Little Cat" who was stakes placed in 2003. Snappy Little Cat is pictured at right as a foal with Snappy Little Tune.

Snappy Little Tune's other foals:

  • 2002 colt by Cape Town, sold in January for $70,000 and again at the Keeneland September Sale for $100,000.
  • 2003 colt by Forest Camp, brought $135,000 at the Fasig-Tipton 2004 Select Yearling sale.
  • 2005 colt by Hussonet, sold at Keeneland for $80,000.
  • 2006 colt by During, owned by a partnership and currently in training.
  • 2007 filly by Lion Heart that sold at Fasig-Tipton for $55,000.
  • 2008 colt by Unbridled Energy, foaled March 7, 2008.

We are sad to report that Snappy Little Tune was euthanized on June 2, 2008. She was an incredibly successful and inspiring racemare and broodmare, and we will miss her.
